CUC 1.1x Tools page last updated on: 09/07/08

The tools on this page are written and tested for versions of Cisco Unity Connection 1.1 and later.

Each tool is noted as being TAC supported or not.  Any tool not supported by TAC I will do my best to help you with personally if you post to the Unity Forum. It should be understood, however, that these are "use at your own risk" tools.  Regardless of if you're using a supported tool or a "use at your own risk" tool, please be sure to try these out on a test system until you're comfortable with how they work before using them on a "live" system... let's be safe out there, people.

If you have suggestions for modifications for any of these applications or have ideas for additional tools you think would be handy, post to the Unity Forum and let me know about it.  Most of these tools have been developed based on suggestions from the field.

Installable Applications

These are all installable applications, most of  which are designed to be run directly on the server where Unity is installed, some can run off box.  Most are also designed to be run while logged in as the same account that installed Unity as well.   Those applications that can run off box usually have a larger setup since they'll require some additional runtime libraries that are included in the Unity setup.

Check back for updates often as I keep these updated fairly regularly.  The home page has a running list of all the changes/updates to the site.

Here's a list of all downloads in alphabetical order

Unity Connection 1.1 training Training videos and Power Point slides by developers provided to TAC when handing off CUC 1.1 to production.
Unity Connection 1.2 Training Training videos and Power Point slides by developers provided to TAC when handing off CUC 1.2 to production.
Broadcast Message Manager This tool allows administrators to insert new broadcast messages for all local subscribers from the desktop, view all outstanding broadcast messages, listen to them, delete them and review which recipients have heard the message to date.
Bulk Administration Manager The Bulk Administration Manager (BAM) allows you to create, update and delete multiple users or system contacts at one time by importing information contained in a CSV file.  It also lets you export information about users or system contacts to a CSV file.
BulkEdit Tool that lets you change just about any setting on large groups of subscribers or call handlers quickly.
CDE Studio Conversation development and exploration tool.
Custom Key Mapping Tool This tool lets you configure the mappings of key presses to functions for the top level subscriber menu, message playback conversation and after message menu.  See the home page for a training video and help for more details.
Data Link Explorer Database exploration/search utility with built in data dictionary information and much more.
Disaster Recovery Backup and Restore These tools allow you to back up and restore Unity specific data including SQL databases, greetings/voice names,  routing rules, subscriber passwords, messages etc... and then restore that information onto a clean Unity Connection box.  This is handy for basic disaster recovery or if you want to change the server Unity is running on etc...

There are two tools, one for backup and one for restore.  The backup is integrated with the windows scheduler and will write status/warning/error information messages to the event log such that you can do regular backups at off hours as regularly as you like.

Restores can be done onto a server of a different name, different install paths/partition configuration etc...

NOTE: PLEASE read the ENTIRE help file before using these tools.

Event Monitoring Service Tool used to monitor the event log for errors and warnings and trigger notifications via email, pager etc... this tool also works with the Remote Serviceability Kit to support SNMP traps based on event log errors.
Gather Unity System Information Gathers basic information about the Unity Connection installation - TAC will often ask for this information when calling for assistance.
Port Status Monitor Graphical tool to monitor activity on all ports on the local Unity Connection server.  Very handy for conversation and call flow troubleshooting.
Port Usage Analyzer This is a tool that can generate reports that show port usage based on dialouts for various reasons (MWI and notification connections) and inbound traffic.  Indications of how many ports were available to take calls at any given time and the like will be graphed so you can easily see if you're in danger of running out of ports during peak times.

This is a set of four complete graphical and table reports that help sites manage their traffic trending.

Remote Serviceability Kit Adds SNMP, CPD and SysLog support to Unity Connection.
Scheduled Unity Connection Restart Tool that allows you to schedule a clean restart of the Unity Connection server.
Subscriber Information Dump Tool to dump out basic subscriber information to a CSV format.
Unity Diagnostic Tool The Cisco Unity Diagnostic Tool allows creating and viewing of diagnostic log files to troubleshoot problems.  It allows for setting traces at the micro or macro level, collecting diagnostic logs, collecting and viewing event viewer data among other things.
Unity Diagnostic Viewer Tool that helps combine and filter diagnostic and data files generated by the Unity Diagnostic Tool found in  Unity Connection 1.1 and later.  This tool is downloadable as a separate install since you may want to do filtering on your local PC using MDB files generated on a remove Unity server.
Unity to Connection Migration Export This tool exports data from a Unity 4.0(5) or later server in preparation for importing to a Connection server.
